Royal Jozini Private Game Reserve is divided into two major sections – the East Shore section where the majority of the bush homes are, which has a high wire electric fence partitioning it. This keeps out the elephant, who are otherwise very keen to dig up the water reticulation to get to our lovely clean drinking water, and to empty our swimming pools (which they have done in the past whilst “removing” deck hand railings to make access easier!) they are now excluded from this section – but all other animals apart from giraffe, can be found here including leopard, buffalo, wildebeest, water buck, kudu and nyala, of the larger buck. This is known as the “Exclusion Zone”.
The other section of Royal Jozini is on the West Shore of Lake Jozini and runs northwards and is where elephant roam freely throughout. Only one of the bush lodge homes is in this section (Lisango Lezulu).
For your safety, it is forbidden to walk or ride bicycles anywhere outside of the exclusion zone. (You are welcome to drive)
It is our intention to identify more walking trails in the East Shore exclusion zone and this is the first, which you can download here for the Rangers’ Rock Route. Always stay alert!
